Welcome to my Webpage

"For the truth is that I already know as much about my fate as I need to know. The day will come when I will die. So the only matter of consequence before me is what I will do with my allotted time. I can remain on shore, paralyzed with fear, or I can raise my sails and dip and soar in the breeze." - Richard Bode

This website represents my journey through the doctoral program in Educational Administration and Supervision at St. John's University. As stated in the University bulletin:

"The doctoral program in Educational Administration and Supervision at St. Johnís University is an advanced professional degree program open to carefully selected and highly qualified graduate students who have manifested professional maturity and demonstrated academic ability and who are seeking to upgrade their professional preparation and acquire specialized knowledge and skills neces≠sary for assuming administrative positions and leadership roles in educational organizations."

I chose a sailing theme because I decided to learn how to sail at the same time I began this program. I discovered there are many similarities. I've experienced genuine fear, frustration and exaltation at different times during my journey in both learning to sail and in expanding my thinking with my coursework. It is a constant struggle to have the tenacity  not to give up whether it is learning to tie a bowline knot or learning how to use Map Info! Although I have not mastered either, I've grown  and challenged my brain with things that don't come easy to me.  Every now and then it all comes together and "I can raise my sails, and dip and soar in the breeze." There is nothing like it.....
